Check out a couple books
You take the cat magazine and haunted house book back up to the front desk. Cici modifies your ID card to double as a library card.

"So... uh..." You swallow dryly, doing your best to not sound nervous. "I'll see you at the concert...?"

"Yup!," Cici replies. "9:00 pm, right? I'll seeya there!"

You start to leave, but something occurs to you. "Oh, uh--real quick--is there a map of the town here...? Or a phone book?"

"Oh, yeah!" Cici disappears through the door behind the desk, returning soon with a town map and a phone book.

After a few minutes of you both looking at the map, Cici shakes her head. "Is it just me, or...?"

"No," you shake your head in return, "...I can't read this map for shit."

"Oh, good," she laughs. The map is... old, and designed in the least intuitive way imaginable. You can definitely tell where streets are, but everything else is a bunch of indiscernible shapes and weird utility jargon.

The phone book, luckily, is pretty recent and also not seemingly written by aliens. You quickly acquire the address and phone number of the mayor's office.

You thank Cici and head back out, books in tow.

You wait for a little while at the bus stop; it's about 11:30 am when it pulls up.

Maria, who you met yesterday, is on the bus (and in your usual seat). There's also a man standing at the back of the bus; he stares at nothing in particular through opaque lenses, and is mid-declaration when you walk through the door. ...On closer inspection, he may be blind.

"--But many things grow and live without being alive, and many are alive but never live and never grow. Growth and life are powerful concepts, but they're not elementary. They're not key or core to the world, they're side effects. Green is not life; green means survival."

As you sit down, Maria throws a glance back toward you. "Plaire, right?"

"Yeah," you mutter.

She leans over and half-whispers. "Don't freak out. That's Franklin. He uh... just kind of does this."

Franklin continues, as though preaching to no one. "One cannot grow if one does not survive. Green can be survival itself--mixed in with the blue of detachment and absence, you have a doctor's scrubs. Green can also be a challenge to survival... like acid, or poison, or toxic waste. No violence, no passion, only a threat to survival."

"But how much green have you been smoking?," Maria asks him.

Franklin grins wide. "Well, Miss Emperatriz. One does what one must to survive."

"Where would you like to go next, Plaire?," the bus asks you.

What time is it? If it's getting close to noon, then heading home for lunch is a good idea.
31st Dec 2019, 7:09 PM
Home, Cher. If you please.
31st Dec 2019, 7:17 PM
Also when we get home we should search the mayor's name on the internet, there should be news about it.

And happy new year, everyone.

Home. Maybe ask Franklin what he thinks about haunted houses. Even if he doesn't know about yours specifically he might say something interesting. Edit: Then when we get home have lunch (peanut butter sandwich?) and play our most relaxing game we haven't played before (we haven't played Captemon nor Magic Mustachio Extreme Beach Volleyball).
31st Dec 2019, 7:27 PM
Go home and eat. Then maybe make a video to make some cash? Maybe one that asks people to tell Plaire in the comment section which are the most awesome/useful video game powers of all time.

+1 to a video that asks people to tell Plaire what the most useful video game powers are. Maybe also the most overpowered characters of all time. Edit: Plaire should also make her own guess as to what those powers and characters are, based on her experience, so that video has more content that might attract more views. Then Plaire can promise to make another video in the future that chooses what are the most overpowered characters and powers are based on her experience and the comments in the first video.

Lunch at home, political research, then shooting range to see what is available, and more importantly, has the least kickback.

Are you sure you want to try to buy a gun now? I mean I bet the old library has some really cool stuff, but a smartphone has many uses. Calling friends. 911 if you survive a huge mutant wolf attack. Taking the phone and its apps and games (Harry Potter: Wizards Unite or Pokemon Go) into the dream alcazar. My vote is smartphone first then more video games to earn more money then maybe a gun.
31st Dec 2019, 8:07 PM
Even if Plaire doesn't buy a gun in the near future she can at least go to the shooting range to price a few weapons and also get more of a feel for this new town she's in.

Precisely, also info on what varieties are popular.

I think our money priorities should be Home (Water/electricity/rent), then Foods, then a cheap smartphone, then anything having to do with real-life protection stuff like guns, if guns are even something we should be investing in.

We still don't have the money from the video we made, I'm not sure how long it will take to arrive. Also, if we do another outing today, we will be too worn out to attend the concert which would be a bummer.

When Plaire goes to visit The Back Room, she should purchase some Captomon cards to see what affect they have in the Alcazar.

+1 to getting some kind of card game from The Back Room. Captemon is a good test, even though it might not be the most interesting card game The Back Room could offer.

My Delerium ALCAZAR

"An alcázar is a type of Moorish castle or palace in Spain and Portugal built during Muslim rule"
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alc%C3%A1zar

Reminds me of "memory palace". It's a mnemonic device to help you remember stuff
"A Memory Palace is an imaginary location in your mind where you can store mnemonic images. "

Like each room and each thing in the room represents stuff you want to remember

If the bus gives an interesting response, roll with it, else: anybody elses comment.

is it possible that Franklin has cybernetics that allow him to communicate with someone else?
1st Jan 2020, 2:50 AM
Y'know, is there much green left in town?
Healthy plants, that is. Moss? Grass somewhere?
Non-sickly plantlife of any variety?

Glance through the cat magazine to avoid having to make eye contact during the bus ride.

Home for lunch and to psyche ourselves up for the concert. That's going to be a big social scene (even if the turnout turns out to be small) and Plaire shouldn't burn herself out before then.
I was thinking Magic Mustachio Extreme Beach Volleyball for the game of the day/night. It'll let us test out if abilities stack in a single "life" in the dungeon without consequently making nega-Plaire OP with abilities (I'm all but certain we're going to die, at minimum, one more time before reaching the bottom of the dungeon).

As an aside: I'm kinda hoping the cat mag turns out to be a being of nigh-infinite power like The Library. Like it exists in all realities and is present wherever and whenever it needs to be.
Then turns out to be a hardcore-difficulty bonus boss in the nightmare dungeon for those who truly want to test their skills. >:3

In no particular order I see obvious actions

Lunch at home (time, not cash)
Lunch out (cash concerns)

After lunch

Game shop
New phone (cash concerns)
Mayor visit (probably requires an appointment)

I suggest lunch at home.
Check our account for hopeful cash deposit.
IF NO deposit
Look up mayor and make appointment if necessary. Be honest about wanting to see the records for the house we bought.
IF YES deposit
New Phone
Game shop

Has anyone else noticed that the art for this story is pixelated in the waking world but changes to hand-drawn in the dream dungeon? Wondering if there's some significance to that...

To Franklin: The most elementary thing is existence or the lack thereof.

I think giving the bus the mayor's address is the best idea for right now. Plaire can start reading the cat magazine or the book about haunted houses on the way there. Once she's there, she could at least schedule an appointment with the Mayor if she's not able to see her right away. I think getting that schematic of the house is something that should be done sooner than later.

Also, Happy New Year everyone!

I disagree, we don't want to go and have an encounter with some one as powerful as the mayor without knowing even a little bit about her. We don't even know who the major players in this story are yet or how the game board is set up. Not sure if we even want the mayor knowing we exist at this point...
